Dental Implant Information
If you and Dr. Van Wormer decide the best treatment for your smile includes dental implants, we will refer you to the best oral surgeon or periodontist to complete your treatment. Once your dental implants have been placed, you can return to Van Wormer Family Dentistry for regular dental visits.
-
Periodontal Treatment
If you’re suffering from symptoms of gum disease, you may need periodontal treatment. Nonsurgical treatment can include scaling, root planing, and the use of antibiotics. If Dr. Van Wormer determines you have more advanced signs of gum disease, additional surgical treatments may be necessary.
-
Scaling & Root Planing
Scaling removes bacteria and tartar buildup on the surface of your teeth and below your gumline. Root planing is a procedure that smooths the root surfaces of your teeth. This is done after scaling and helps prevent additional bacteria buildup and helps your gums reattach to your teeth.
-
Dental Fillings
If Dr. Van Wormer finds cavities and signs of decay on your teeth, you may need a dental filling. Van Wormer Family Dentistry provides both composite (tooth-colored) and silver-colored fillings to ensure your smile stays healthy and beautiful.
-
Inlays & Onlays
If you have a cavity that is too small to be treated with a traditional filling, a dental inlay may be used. Inlays are made of tooth-colored composite and bonded to your tooth as it fills in small cavities.
Onlays are similar to inlays, but they are a bit larger, as they typically extend onto the chewing surface of your rear molars. They work similarly to a dental crown but don’t cover the entire surface of your tooth.
-
Dental Crowns
Crowns are an effective way to restore a tooth that has become damaged or infected with decay. Typically crowns are placed following a root canal treatment to protect your tooth. Crowns can also be used to restore the appearance of your smile.
-
Dental Bridges
If you’re missing a tooth or have to have one extracted, a dental bridge is an option to replace your missing tooth. If you don’t want to wear partial dentures or aren’t ready for full dentures, a dental bridge could be the right solution for you.
-
Partial Dentures
Dentures can be an ideal solution if you’re missing multiple teeth. Partial dentures are held in place by a plastic base the same color as your gums, then a metal framework is created to secure the dentures.
-
Full Dentures
If your teeth are missing and you’re ready for complete dentures, Dr. Van Wormer can help. Dental technology has come a long way in recent years, allowing full dentures to be more comfortable and look completely natural.
-
Root Canal Treatment
Root canals are one of the most common restorative dentistry procedures and you can relax knowing you’re in good hands with Dr. Van Wormer. If your tooth has become infected with decay, it can spread to the center of your tooth (also known as the pulp). When this happens, you need immediate treatment to remove the infection.
Once your root canal treatment is complete, Dr. Van Wormer will finish your procedure with a dental crown to protect your tooth from future decay and damage.
-
Gentle Tooth Extraction
At Van Wormer Family Dentistry, our goal is always to preserve your natural teeth whenever possible. However, sometimes the best choice for the health of your mouth is tooth extraction. If this is the case with your dental health, Dr. Van Wormer will talk you through the entire procedure, answering all of your questions and ensuring your comfort during your gentle tooth extraction and any additional treatment.
